JNHS/J-Club Membership Requirements and Application

JNHS:

- B+ average in all Japanese Classes

- Currently taken or have taken at least Japanese 2

- Overall 3.0 GPA

- Must complete event/hours requirements

- Applications due 9/14 @ 11:59 p.m. 

- No late applications will be accepted.

- Everyone can apply - just answer the questions!

- Link to the JNHS membership Application 25-26 here!

J-Club:

- Anyone can join! 

 

JNHS Hours Requirements

JNHS members are required to complete a 4-hour quota:

- Minor: 0.5 hours

- Tutor: 0.5 or 0.75 hours
- Major: 1 hour
- Social: 1 hour
Example: 2 Minor events + 2 Major events + 1 Social event = 4 hours

Studio Mai 20th Anniversary Performance

- Sunday, September 7th (open at 1:40pm, starts at 2:00pm)

- Quinlan Community Center Cupertino Room, 10185 N Stelling Rd, Cupertino, CA 95014

- No hours are given (but come to enjoy the performance!)

Tsukimi

- Minor event (0.5)

- Take a picture of the next full moon

- Write a Haiku poem about the scene

- Asynchronous - complete form for credit

T-Shirt Design Contest

Design requirements:

1. Homestead Japanese National Honor Society and 全米日本語優等生協会 on the shirt

2. No more than 3 colors

3. Only an original design on the front of the T-shirt

4. Create the design through the CustomInk website, email to hhsjnhs@gmail.com

Winner gets a free shirt!

Minor event (0.5)

Due 9/28 @ 11:59 p.m.

 

Tutoring

- During tutorial: Monday (0.5), Wednesday/Friday (0.75)

- Help Japanese students understand material better

- After working with tutees, fill out the tutoring sheet located near the filing cabinets and bookshelf in the classroom to receive hours

- If you want to help out Japanese 1 or 2 students in Nakamatsu Sensei's classroom, grab the lanyard by the tutoring sheet in Birdsong Sensei's classroom before heading over.
